One of America's Oldest Classical Music Institutions selects Marcum Technology to move their data center to a new disaster recovery facility

Marcum Technology was presented with the opportunity to assist one of America's oldest classical music institutions with their requirement to move their data center to a new disaster recovery facility.

The Marcum team was responsible for all aspects of the move including the project planning, project management, technology integration and application cutover. Before the move, Marcum needed to develop a comprehensive inventory of the client's current environment including all servers, applications, network connectivity, security, and storage.

Marcum built out a new environment at a colocation space located at their partner Webair's data center. While data security was of primary importance, other services that were factored in included: carrier-neutral communication facilities, redundant power, facility expertise and technical networking experience. These were some of the driving reasons why Marcum and the client chose Webair.

This move was also an opportunity to upgrade the functionality and availability of the core systems.

During the move the Marcum Technology team:

  • Incorporated a new storage clustered architecture which minimized the disruption of transporting client data into the new space
  • Migrated the client's data to a new architecture
  • Upgraded backend Storage Network to 10 GIG
  • Upgraded the VMware software environment
  • Upgraded firewall availability

Marcum's various engineer resources and technical ability communicated to the client that even during a data center cutover their applications and data were protected.

Having Marcum as the conductor was "music to the client's ears." Our skilled engineers are like artists who are disciplined, creative, and inherently reliant on "experience."
